Common textile concepts:

1. Warp direction, warp, warp density -- fabric length direction; The yarn in this direction is called warp; The arrangement number of yarns within 1 inch is warp density (warp density);

2. Weft direction, weft yarn, weft density -- fabric width direction; The yarn in this direction is called weft, and the number of arranged yarns within 1 inch is weft density (weft density);

3. Density is used to express the number of yarns per unit length of woven fabric, which is generally 1 inch or 10 cm. According to the national standard of our country, the number of yarns within 10 cm is used to express the density, but textile enterprises are still used to use the number of yarns within 1 inch to express the density. For example, the commonly seen "45x45 / 108x58" means that there are 45 warp and weft yarns respectively, and the warp and weft densities are 108 and 58.

4. Width -- the effective width of fabric, which is usually expressed in inches or centimeters. The common ones are 36 inches, 44 inches, 56-60 inches and so on. They are called narrow width, medium width and wide width respectively. The fabric higher than 60 inches is called extra wide width, which is usually called wide width cloth. Nowadays, the width of extra wide fabric in China can reach 360 cm. Width is generally marked after density. For example, if width is added to the fabric mentioned in 3, it means "45x45 / 108x58 / 60", that is, width is 60 inches.

5. Gram weight - the gram weight of fabric is generally the gram number of the weight of fabric per square meter. Gram weight is an important technical index of knitted fabric, and gram weight is also an important technical index of woolen cloth. The gram weight of denim fabric is generally expressed by "Oz", that is, the number of ounces per square yard of fabric weight, such as 7 ounces, 12 ounces of denim, etc;

6. Yarn dyed fabric is called "first dyed fabric" in Japan, which refers to the process of dyeing the yarn or filament first, and then weaving with colored yarn. This kind of fabric is called "yarn dyed fabric". The factory producing yarn dyed fabric is generally called dyeing and weaving factory, such as denim, and most of the shirt fabrics are yarn dyed fabric;
